Spinning TynecastleAfter a two week break Tynecastle had to be content with a share of the points on Saturday against a very well organised Whitefield Rovers in Hamilton. Missing were the suspended Chris Hughes and Jimmy Erskine but Kevin Taylor made a place on the bench after recent injury woes.

Both sides started brightly and it was the home side who found the breakthrough on 18 minutes, with Tynecastle down to ten men with Cahill receiving treatment Whitefield struck from close range as we failed to clear from a corner kick, putting the home side 1-0 ahead.

Chances were created at both ends and some meaty tackles kept the referee on his toes but when Tynecastle striker Cochrane homed in on goal he was fouled by Hanlon leaving the ref with an easy decision to award the spot kick. Cochrane converted to draw us level on the half hour mark.

Tynecastle went further ahead five minutes later after a mix up allowed Paxton to gain possession, after good link up it was Cochrane again who despatched past Murphy from close range to put us ahead going into the break.

The home side predictably came at us in the early part of the second half and found an equaliser on 55 minutes when Gillies cut in and shot from the edge of the 18 yard box leaving Devlin helpless. Kevin Taylor replaced Andy Anderson who worked tirelessly during the game.

The Home side though went 3-2 ahead ten minutes later after a mix up in the Tynecastle defence allowed the big striker in to score from five yards an the back of an indirect free kick.

Whitefield could have stretched their lead but for an excellent Devlin stop on 70 minutes, this proved vital as Tynecastle equalised within a few minutes after McCann finished well at the back post to once again draw level.

The game could have went either way in the end with both teams having excellent chances to claim all three points, rovers hitting the woodwork and McGlinchey and Muir coming close for Tynecastle.
After 90 minutes all was square in what would have been an entertaining match for the neutral.

Verdict: Both sides will be disappointed with the draw, for Tynecastle the re-building goes on.
